Calcite

Description

Sea shells are made of calcite, as is marble. Alabaster is a very fine, translucent form of calcite. A soft malleable stone, large pieces of calcite sometimes have a powdery feel.

Calcite is very delicate and susceptible to both acid and abrasion. It also absorbs oils easily.
